Friday 20th December

Happy Friday!

As we reach he end of the term, I am delighted to reflect on the wonderful activities and events that have brought joy and excitement to our school community.

Wednesday was definitely our busiest day this week. The school was a sea of colour as children and staff donned their favourite Christmas jumpers. A big thank you to our kitchen team for preparing a delicious Christmas dinner and the children had a special lunchtime in their classrooms. Some children in year three said it was the ‘best lunchtime ever.’ Following this, Year 2 to Year 6 filled the air with beautiful music during their carols on the playground. The children sang with such enthusiasm, spreading the magic of the season to all who attended. Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to join us for this special event.

Our final day of term was great fun, and we loved seeing everyone in their different outfits. We started the day with an assembly, which included a Christmas quiz, singing our favourite Christmas songs and a musical retelling of ‘Twas the night before Christmas.’ Reception joined us for the first time in the hall with the rest of the children and they sat and joined in the songs beautifully. The children then went back to their classrooms to take part in a range of Christmas activities. Overall it was a lovely day for all!

Alongside the festive activities this week, our children have continued to showcase their incredible creativity and learning.

It was fantastic to see year four present their innovative greenhouse designs to their parents on Monday. Their understanding of sustainability in building these prototypes was truly inspiring.

Year 1 proudly showcased their free-standing houses they had designed and built during their DT lessons. The level of detail and problem-solving demonstrated was remarkable and they appreciated their parents coming into see what they had created.

As we wrap up this term, I’d like to thank our children for working so hard, our staff for their dedication and our parents and carers for your continued support.

We hope everyone is enjoying the first day of the festive holidays! The wonderful Olive Hill staff are busy getting everything ready for the next term and preparing for the new learning that will take place.

I wish you all a joyous holiday season filled with rest and time with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on the 6th January.
