Friday 22nd November

Happy Friday!

I must admit I was not expecting the snow this week and although it made the view from the back of school look rather beautiful, I am pleased it has now all melted. A huge thank you to Mr Weston who spent much of this week ensuring that the school site was safe for us to be able to access.

The school has been a hive of activity this week. Christmas songs can be heard as each year group prepare for their various Christmas performances. Other year groups are preparing for their class performances and exhibitions to showcase their learning. You really are in for a real treat. Please do look at the school calendar on the website for performance dates.

Speaking of Christmas, you have received a letter regarding the mufti day next Friday 29th November. The children may come into school in non-school uniform and in return, we would ask that you bring in an item to support our school Christmas Fair. We ask that each year donates the following item:

Nursery & Reception: Cakes/ Biscuits

Year 1 & Year 2: Chocolate

Year 3 & Year 4: Toiletries (only sealed and unused items)

Year 5 & Year 6: Bottles (shampoo, pop etc)

We look forward to seeing you at our Christmas Fayre on Wednesday 4th December at 3.30pm.

On Tuesday, Mrs Waters delivered two communication workshops to parents of our nursery children. The workshops aimed to support parents/carers by giving them practical activities and techniques to support their children’s language development, listening, attention and early reading skills in a fun and interactive way. It also launched our ‘reading for pleasure’ packs in which the children will be able to borrow books each week to read at home.

Today, year two walked to the cinema in Quinton to see Paddington in Peru. This experience helped to bring their autumn learning experience to life, as the children have been reading Paddington as part of their English curriculum and learning about the world, including South America and Peru. The children demonstrated exceptional behaviour throughout the trip, from the journey to the cinema to their conduct during the film and they returned to school buzzing with excitement.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday!
